Hey I'm looking for a spotlight for home and truck use. I don't want rechargeable batteries (in case I'm out and the power runs out I want to be able to replace the batteries and keep going). I've had too many of the sporting goods store rechargeables that won't hold a charge or take too long for the beam to come to full power or that just quit on me after 5 or less months.
I'm not a surefire fanboy but am looking at the Surefire Fury P2X-B-BK Dual Output (15 & 500 lumens). They also have a 1,000 lumen version but think it may be too long to drop into my pocket (3 batteries long vs 2).
Basically I'm looking for relatively small, 500 or more lumens, reliable, dual out put is nice for when I don't need the more powerful spotlight (though I don't care for the ones with multiple settings... have a 150 lumen light that has 5 or 6 settings Jeesh!). Would actually prefer the 'ON' button on the top... not on the tail cap. I can get the above surefire for under $110.
Thanks in advance,
Jerry

Get a Fenix PD32UE and thank me later.
I use a Fenix E11 every day at work. Even on the 115 lumen setting, a single AA alkaline lasts 3 weeks burning it 20-30 minutes a day.
The E11 impressed me enough to buy the PD32UE. Mostly, I want it for bloodtrails in bow season.
I'm Irish...
Of course I know how to patch drywall

For truck and car use go to home depot and buy a few of there defiant brand flashlights for under 30 bucks a pop under 20 bucks around Christmas and a light output of 500 to 1000 lumens depending on the model. Every now and then you may get one with the switch a little touchy just take it back and swap it out for a new one.
You've got to hand it to a blind prostitute

Thanks Guys... I'll take a look at these.
Dan, I've got a fenix headlamp and a couple of their small (1 AA) lights and like them.

Spotlight? I just got a Browning High Noon from Amazon and the thing rocks. High, low, strobe, floats, 3C batteries, a very bright and focused beam. Price was good from Amazon and it is much smaller than it looks in the pictures. It has a neat stand that you can use to prop it up. I keep it in the console of the truck.
Of course, it does not fit in the pocket. You say you want a pocket floodlight in the title and a spotlight for home and truck use in the first sentence. Two different things.
Edit, I see you are really looking for a flashlight rather than a spotlight. Oh well, since I typed it up, I'll leave the High Noon endorsement for anyone who is interested.
