I just recently purchased a model 99 H carbine with the barrel band around the forearm. The SN indicates it is from 1931. The rifle has had a ventilated kick pad installed and I'd like to remove it and put a correct butt plate on the rifle. I've seen pictures of other rifles with the barrel band and some have the shotgun butt plate and others have the carbine butt plate. Was this difference a function of the year of production, or what determined the correct butt plate? I'd appreciate your help with this.
I'm new to this forum, so pardon my ignorance if this question has been answered previously, but I couldn't find it addressed in previous posts.
Thanks
Scott
