Lon Paul is a builder of fine hunting rifles. Not long ago his home and shop burned to the ground. It was a total loss. I don't know him and have never had my hands on his work BUT by all accounts he is a decent guy who does good work. Echols blog has pictures.
I am sending a check to him. If any of you are inclined, I am certain it will be appreciated.

My understanding is that he lost everything. Either no insurance or not enough.

I don't imagine that insurance would be adequate for a business like his unless it were also unaffordable. He probably had some very fine blanks in stock and lots of customer guns in various stages of completion. Add to that tools and personally designed jigs an such and I cannot imagine how a value could be placed. Writing a claim would be quite daunting.
