I just got my new .270 WSM in. I would like to see if I can get a load worked up for a November elk hunt. I plan to use a 130 TSX. What powders you guys running with 130s?

Magpro got me the highest speeds and and fine accuracy in my previous .270 WSM and will be my first choice when my new .270 WSM gets here.

66 gr RL-22, 215GMM primer, and a 130 tsx = 3,275 fps in my 24" 270wsm. This is NOT a max load in my gun.

Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money but we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money. What's interesting is the first group WORKED for their money but the other group didn't.

67.5 grains of RE22 nets me 3325 fps with a kissed 130 SST and only a 5 fps spread!

Same charge with a kissed 130 TTSX gets 3402! Thats kissed and may be spiking the pressure. I may back it off the lands and see wtf.

RE22 under a 150 SST does 3040 avg.

R22, R25, R17, H4831, I4350, and H4350 all work well in mine, but the 4350s and R17 gave the best accuracy in this particular rig. Getting 3260 with 130TTSXs over 63g I4350 in WW cases lit by 215GMMs (23" bbl), sub moa with some 3 shot groups dipping under 1/2moa. Pounds whitetail quite well, I wouldn't hestitate to use it on bigger stuff.

Guys the rifle has become a safe queen, so I'll think I will try to load for this again. I tried RL 17 with 1.5" inch groups; Magnum was even worse than that. I got the best results with H-4350. I plan to try some RL 22 & RL 25 next. I also have 7828ssc & H-4831sc too.

Since it's been a while, I'm going to bring this back up to see if anyone else is having luck with any other powders?

RL 17 gets me top speed and accuracy, best group so far measured just over a half inch using RL 17 and Nosler 150 gr partition.

I've had inconsistency with 150 gr. bullets in my .270 WSM so I decided to try 130's. With limited experimenting, I've found 130 gr. Partitions and Rldr-22 look
to be pretty good. Grouping very close to an inch or slightly less using powder charges of 62.5 gr. up to 65.5 gr. Max. powder charge is 66.0 gr. as I recall.
65.5 gr. gave me a velocity of about 3176 fps with easy extraction. 130 gr. Partitions will be just fine for sheep & caribou that we hunt.
Tried IMR-7828 last week but accuracy wasn't quite as good as Rldr-22. My rifle is a Win. Extreme Weather.
Good luck.

What brand of rifle? My sons Remington model 7 cdl likes the 130gr accubonds and reloader 17. I loaded some for a buddies Kimber and that thing was real picky. You could put 2 shots touching but it wanted to start stringing shots after that with everything I tried.
Also what is your coal with the tsx? The barnes like to jump so if your seated out maybe play with the seating depth.
