Anyone have a idea how many moa a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14 scope has top and bottom. Most budget minded scopes come with
at least 50-60 moa. It is an older model with the parallax on the objective. Any thoughts?

Quick search found 50 MOA.

It only take a minute to run it to the bottom and count the minutes to the top of the adjustments.

It's worth exactly nothing, all rifles being different but I have one on my rem 700 30-06 with leupold mounts. I have 22 Moa up with 180's, 200 yard zero.

My AO has about 50, my SF has about 60.

I think, therefore I am, conservative.

The scope has a total of 50 MOA available.

How much you have left is up to the mounts used....

The reason I ask is because I am going to put a 20 moa base on my 300 Winchester and would like to do some 800 yard shooting. I don't have target turrets and have no intention of putting any on either. So I will have a total of 55 moa in elevation total with the base. I could turn the dial all the way up and possibly reach a 1000 yds. I have a 18'' by 18'' steel target to shoot at with plenty of back stop.

looking at some of my drop tables for a .30-06 with a 200 yard zero you'll need 27.5 - 35 moa for 1000 yards depending on bullet and speed. a 300 should do a little better, 1000 should be no problem.

Great, good info. I only shoot 180 gr. in the '06 myself. That wouldn't happen to be your bullet weight would it?

I'm shooting hornady 180 SST's over H414. I would love to give you specifics but I'm 800 miles from my loading bench. I'm very happy with with my 180's. Haven't shot em out to 1000 though. I don't have a range for it and no 4 wheeler to get to the places I can shoot that far.

I am shooting Barnes 180 Tsx with H1000 and receiving decent results with my intial 100yd MOA.(about 2moa) I have some Swift A Frames in 180 for serious penetration that I haven't reloaded as of yet. Reason being they are too expensive to be target practicing with. I may just load the A frames in 30'06, 20 grains less powder. Still great results I am sure.

The winny is more of my western romance hunt, maybe not a dream hunt but still far away for me. New York State is a long drive from the Rocky's. Any game in Ny can be handled with Remington Core Lokt's with no problems. But you know how we are, we need to explore other possibilitys for no apparent reasoning.

I'm in Alaska and I used a .338 wm for a long time. But for the last 5 years it's just my .30-06. It's more about what you can shoot the best rather then what fires the biggest bullet. Just my opinion but if I'm shooting past 200-300 I want a load that's 1" or better at 100 to start with. And when you shoot from the bench leave the rest at home. I don't have one in the field and I shoot differnt poi from the shoulder. Just my 2 cent and treat it as such. Either way just enjoy it.
