Have been thinking lately a 257 Roberts would be nice to have. Since there are not a whole lot of factory choices out there may have to put one together. I mostly shoot remingtons. So will the Bob fit in a short action or does it need a long?
Thanks

The Bob will fit in a short action. Depending on how you want it throated and what bullets you want to shoot, more magazine length may be necessary. I have one that functions well with a 3.0" magazine.

I will have to keep my eyes out for a donor rifle now. I think the Bob would make a heck of a nice deer cartridge.

My Kimber Classic Select (Bob) will be here this week, looking forward to it.
Now I've just got to line up an appropriate hunt for it.

I will probably wait until I find a cheap donor model 700. I know if I'm patient I will be able to find one for $300 or less. Although if a nice mauser comes my way I wouldn't hesitate.

Now I've just got to line up an appropriate hunt for it. That would be my pick in the Bob as well. Small scaled action CRF, walnut and blued steel just seem right for a classic caliber like the Bob.

Don't pass on a nice 722; if you see one: Agreed... still kicking myself for passing on a 99% one that was $400... sheesh. And BTW, GREAT photo!

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum. I do tend to fit in well wherever I go in person. The campfire is the most outside exposure I get. No TV, no newspaper.

SA or LA ? Your choice I went thru a M70 PF Fwt and a M700 Mountain Rifle that had short mag box issues coupled with longer throats. I now have a M77 RL in 257 that is a good shooter and a joy to carry. Mag Man

I'm having a Roberts built on a Pre'64 Model 70 with the regular 3.40" 30-06 magazine.
I'll have LOTS of mag length......but the case won't get lost like it might in a 3.60" Rem 700 long action....:-)
The FN built Model 70 short action would be a good place to put a Roberts.

This 700 Classic I owned was nice if you can find one; they made a run in 1982. It was definetely "Classic" .
