So Im new here sorry if this has been discused. I have been following the campfire for a while and never have seen this.
So recently been wanting to build a .260 rem. I came across a Savage 110 LA. I believe the cartridge would run better in a SA but the deal was way too good to pass. What problems am I going to run into building this on a LA. Or will this work just fine.

You won't run into any problems at all. You will just have a little mag space left over. GD

I am not sure about the Savage , but I built mine on a long action 700 and to improve feeding I put a half inch block in the rear of the magazine and used a short action follower. It still leaves me with a 3.1 inch magazine box and feeds perfect.

What's a good way to take up the mag space? A block of aluminum.

I fashioned a block from Some kind of space age plastic, But aluminum would also work.

I put one on a 700 for a while.. just use the extra space to seat a bullet out further and throat it for that...
that's what I did with mine...

I doubt you'll need the block. Try it in the full length magazine first and see how it feeds, I'm betting it does fine.

I built one from an old sportsman 78 action and it feeds fine . A real bonus to using a long action you can seat very long bullets way out and still run them the mag.

I have a factory 22-250 Savage rifle and it functions fine. That's all the made at one point I guess.

Were it me ( and it's not ) I'd run the 6.5-06. It'll use the full potential of the long action.... my $.02

Two of the barrels I run on a Savage 110 are 260rem. One varmint and one factory contour. I didn't bother trimming the magazine follower and fitting a block as I switch cartridges from 22-250 to 35whelan on that action. The 260 feeds fine from the longer mag so it's a non issue for me.
