Was just in a local Sportsman's Warehouse an hour or two ago... all 700's with the new adjustable trigger off the racks and gone!
Manager said they pulled them today, I believe, at the direction of Remington. The 700 ADL's with the non-adjustable triggers will still there however.
He did not know why.
Didn't someone have a trigger "break" here on the fire recently on a new 700 while adjusting the trigger. Seems like it just broke in half IIRC.
No SPS 260 Rem for me for awhile I imagine!!! Sounds like a few guys may have a "rare bird" on their hands.

The triggers were 99% broken from the factory because of a huge screw in the center of the trigger. Designer was smoking crack when he came up with that.

I've had two of the xmark, they both broke at the adjustment screw. In my opinion they are total junk. I'd never rely on one for any serious endeavor.

Nothing on the Remington website regarding a recall. I was contemplating a 700 that WalMart had marked down last weekend but decided I didn't want to shell out another $100 for a replacement trigger.

I did not go to the Remington website. Perhaps I should have labeled my thread : Recall??? Remington 700's with new improved trigger? My apologies.
I have to say I was very surprised when the manager said they'd just "pulled" all of the 700 SPS's an hour earlier when I was inquiring about the .260 700 SPS. He did not know why when I asked if had to do with the trigger. I then saw several ADL's on the rack. He then added that it was not ALL 700's, just those models with the "adjustable triggers".
Perhaps it was "corporate" that told them to pull the guns... I was under the impression that it was Remington. Sportsman's has quite a few stores and I suspect sells a bunch of 700's. Either way, it is quite a few 700's and sounded pretty suspect to me... and I was really interested in those new .260's.

But the new trigger no longer has the sear connector which, according to Jack Belk, was the root of all evil. Surely the engineers would not have screwed up something else. On the bright side, with the trigger broken off, it should be difficult to shoot someone; accidentally or not. GD

Rather than deal with Remington I would just install an after-market trigger. Midway has Timney triggers for the M700 on sale for $109.
Replace the junk with something good.

Just entered a serial # that has been recalled. Remington says:
"Your rifle is subject to the recall. Remington will send you pre-paid shipping tags, boxes and written instructions. Remington will cover all related shipping, inspection, and specialty cleaning charges. Please do not return your rifle to Remington before receiving the shipping tags, as the shipping tags will be marked to expedite delivery of your rifle to the specific Remington facility dedicated to this recall program."
This is a rifle that has discharged closing the bolt at the range.
And a 40% discount code for Remington Country, whoho! not...
+1 on the Timney. I'd much rather have Remington buy my trigger back.
Turns out I have three recalled rifles, one alleady has a Timney and the other is about to get one because it is inconsistant even with a reputable trigger job!

Is it only for the adjustable XMark with the big screw in the shoe, or is it actually all of the XMark triggers?

It's every X-Mark Pro gun, 700 and Model 7 from the start, May 2006 till this Wednesday.
My vanilla LTR is one. Trigger has always been light and crisp and am hating the idea of sending it off; it's rarely shot groups larger than .5. God knows what they'll stick in it.
How hard is it to install a Timney or other aftermarket trigger?

But nothing some time and acetone wouldn't fix either way. I'm curious as to whether you've done this yourself to fix this recall issue or do you know someone who has? Anything to keep from having to send a new rifle back to Remington would be helpful if it actually works. I've cleaned up a lot of 700 triggers with solvents and even lighter fluid and then dried them with compressed air. I also realize that some nail polish removers have acetone in them. But, if the sealer Remington uses is a different type of polymer than nail polish, you could end up with a potentially gummy residue in the trigger. Maybe not. Thanks in advance.
It's official. I missed the selfie deadline so I'm Maser's sock puppet because rene and the Polish half of the fubar twins have decided that I am.

It's a one beer job at the most.
