Quail hunting over Buck and Trixie, our two English Setters. Dad and I would hunt on Saturday. On Sunday lunch would be fried quail, new potatoes, homemade biscuits and milk gravy.
Buck and Trixie would ride to school some days in my pickup and wait all day to go hunting after school. Times are different now.

fifty years ago........bringing home the groceries was a family activity. Thirty years ago.......passing my heritage on to my kids. These days.......it is time spent with the Grand kids.

Back in the 50's my maternal grandma lived with us. She had a garden out back of the house. She also didn't like the rabbits eating her garden. NO PROBLEM!
I'd shoot the rabbits with my Remington 512A with 'shorts' and she would skin them make the best 'hassenfeffer' with home-made rye bread anyone could imagine.
Damn, I sure miss those days!

Trapping with my grandfather. He was a commercial fisherman in the summer - trapper in the winter.

Anything done with Dad. I miss him so much. So many memories. The cold mornings heading out for a deer hunt. The stove cracking and creeking as it came to life at deer camp. Watching dad still hunt the hollow behind camp as only the master could do. I'll never know how he had the patience to work so slow.
Trolling for pike and walleyes in Lake Michigan. The little 5 horse Johnson purring like a kitten as we worked the weedbeds on Little Bay De Noc. So hard to know he's been gone 30 years. It seems like yesterday.
