I will be fishing the Red Deer river near Calgary the end of this month. We will be going after big Brown's and Rainbows. Any know what flies I would be safe bringing? I will not be fishing with a guide so I will need to bring what I am going to be using.

FWIW, the Red Deer River isn't exactly near Calgary. It's a couple hours north, pretty much right in between Edmonton and Red Deer.

IIRC, Clouser minnows are a popular fly for the area, but I'm not much of a fly-fisherman. Check with some of the fly shops in the area. There is a good one in Rocky Mountain House who's name escapes me.
