I've had a 6x42 leupold & wasn't impressed. It got sold pretty quick. I'm in Mississippi and know what the op means about deer coming out at last light. My main two low light scopes are a 2.5-10x56 Swarovski PH & a 3-12x56 Meopta, both have #4 reticles the importance of which can't be overstated. I don't like fixed power scopes but if I were going to run one for Deep South deer hunting it'd be an 8x56 S&B or 7x56 meopta with a bold reticle.

Between the leupold vx2 and conquest I'd pick the one with the better reticle, preferably a #4.
