Have a choice between a Ultimate Shadow or Extreme Weather? Caliber will be .325 WSM. Ultimate Shadow is slightly a heavier contour barrel from what I understand? Hoping to see if either would be more accurate than the other? Thanks.

Can't see there being much accuracy difference. Are you planing on using the rifle as is or changing out stuff like the stock? I really like my EW with a Micky Edge stock, but have read a lot of negative about the EW factory stock.

What's the cost difference???? I'd wager to bet the EW would be a little more accurate if you were going to shoot a 10 shot group, but who the hell does that here besides me

200.00 dollars more for the EW. I heard complaints about the stock on the EW. The brief google search I did favored the Ultimate Shadow? Are they both using the same action....CRF? or is the US a push feed, lower end model?

I have a EW in a 325 wsm love it tried one load in it imr 4007 with a 200gr speer. I was going to try 200gr accubonds but after the group I shot with 200gr speers my load development stopped. Oh I shot 12 shot groups BSA. I like th estock it doesn;t bother me none and I hunted with it in good ol Alaska I do realize that does not compare to hunting down here in the lower 48 where the weather is brutal but hey we made do with what we had up their.

I shoot 3 shot groups with the WSM. I think shooting a 10 shot string you be shooting for a awhile I wait at min 2 minutes between shots if not longer. I shoot .460 group so 1/2 inch groups. It's not bedded and I don;t think I will mess with it.

Gave up on the bedding venture huh my friend. When I shoot 10 shot groups, I shoot but I keep an eye on the wind. If I'm waiting anymore than about 30 seconds between shots, I'd be surprised. I've shot with guys that shoot 3 shots and then wait 10 minutes and then shoot another 2 for a 5 shot group. I've never done that. Seems pretty pointless to me...Here's a FN 300 wsm that had a fluted barrel like the EW. It shot pretty good: However, my non fluted barrel on my CZ 550 American shoots better....

No didn't give up on it I bedded two more rifles since my 270 Weatherby and 25-06. Just don't see a need to mess with it since it shoots pretty good. I have a junk ass ol Leupold 3-9x33 on it I need to get a better scope looking at getting a Bushnell Banner for it.

Drop the 8mm WSM idea and if it's a WSM you want get the .300 WSM for it's availability and selection of bullets. Also for a WSM I prefer the Kimber Montana. Kimber Montana

That 8mm makes impressive holes in things though. I own a 06 and wanted a little more step up. I have a few irons in the fire. Currently adding a 338 win mag, and thinking about a .325 wsm or 8mm-06. No waiting if I purchase the Winny.
300 WSM slightly interests me but it throws the same 30 caliber bullet faster than my 06. Not sure if it is a caliber I need over the 06?

Does this mean you're getting out of the .30 cal business? I was still looking for those 165's you asked about. If it's a bigger hole you seek, I'd recommend the Whelen. I'll be glad to let you shoot one, to see what you think. Look for a PM. FC

Thanks FC,
No, I still have the 308 Winchester so I can still use the 165's!
Always looking for the next best thing? It's elusive though! I'm getting a new barrel on the 06 with a 12 twist.
I happened across a .325 WSM and have seen 1 unlucky doe shot with it I could see daylight out the other side of her, lung tissue and blood was sprayed on the opposite side of the exit wound. She didn't manage to go anywhere. I had a feeling it would make a good black bear cartridge even though the tried and true 06 would do it as well.
PM returned
