Who's shooting them and what's your load?

I have 140 AMAX, BTs and Partitions, but want to try loading the 123 Secnar to 3250 or so for deer and lopes.

You should be able to hit the fps you want with H4831. In my old Hodgdon book it shows 3 powders hitting 3389,3382,and 3391. With a 120gr sierra from a 26" barrel. They used H870, H450 and 4831. I have reached 3249 with the 130gr VLD by JLK and H4831.

Try about 67g of 7828. That might still be a little fast but you can work a grain in either direction from there.

I was using the 120 Amax at 3400. I used H-1000,7828 and Retumbo. But, the 120 Amax is so soft it just destroys animal tissue. I knw that is what we want, but the bullet in my opinion is just soft. It is very accurate out of my 264 win but I will not use ot for game again.

In my rifle, the 123 AMAX flys exactly the same as the Secnar. I'll use the Secnar on game.
