Or had a 1895 Marlin modified to 50cal?
What is recoil like in the 50 Alaskan?

Recoil, depends on how much you can stand. 450gr Kodiaks over 66gr of Benchmark isn't your everyday chump load. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Sapper, yes I have had 2 50 alaskans built on the 95 marlin action. For me at least the recoil from a lever is easier to tolerate than from a bolt gun. Full house loads are a handful, about like a 458WM load. You can load it down with cast bullets and still have good penetration.

I prefer a straight stock not pistol grip for heavy recoil with a lever. Regards, Byron

I have a 5 shot revolver built off of the D-Max frame and it is a handfull with 525 grain hardcast at 1550 fps,out of it's 8" barrel and yes that is chronoed velocity............. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
