The narrative says it is the bullet used by Buffalo Bore. I have carried the Buffalo Bore factory .38 Special +P loaded with that bullet (158 gr. LSWCHPGC) in a 3 inch Ruger SP101 that chronographed an average of 1064 fps MV. I carried that combination in the woods and in town for a few years. I never had to shoot any critters with it, though.

I have a single cavity Lyman 358156 that I hollow pointed on my lunch break at work. It drops COWW alloyed bullets at 151gr when they are lubed, checked, and ready to load. I haven't shot any game with them but in hot 38 special loads through my 38/44 they behave a lot like a nosler partition when fired into wet phone books. The front end will open to around .60 caliber and then shear off, leaving the base section to penetrate another 8" or so. Slowed down or alloyed softer they might peel back and stay together in the classic mushroom, but I kinda prefer the partition style behavior.

I've cast those bullets myself and concur with TheKid. I've loaded some cast from soft, tape-type wheelweights and ar 1200 fps, they give perfect mushrooms....AND they left no leading(Alox lube).
