Guys, I play with a lot of bows. Usually dont keep one long. Never buy new. Its how I keep abreast of whats out there. Get something new to learn the ins and outs of a particular bow. Then its down the road so I can get something else. Today I broke my routine. Since the Energy series bows came out, I have fallen in love with the two track binary cams with limb stops.

I was all ready to pull the trigger on an Elite E32. So much that I already had my string colors picked out. After much discussion with a tuning buddy of mine from CO, and some lengthy discussions with Dennis(owner of Obsession Bows), I ordered a NEW Obsession Evolution in Stormy Hardwoods Original

Specs on the bow are 70#, 26.5" DL, (know I'll get flamed for this)6"BH, 353fpsIBO rating. Real world numbers actually put it between 347 and 349IBO. Draw cycle should be smoother than Elite's, transition into the valley should be smoother. At my short draw length the short BH isnt a concern. Its hardly noticeable

I will find out between tomorrow and Monday just how long I have to wait for my bow. Obsession offers great CS. They offer custom options. A transferrable warranty. And they will allow you to "test drive their bows". You either love it or return it for full refund. What other bow company does that?

How do the cams compare to Hoyts cam 1/2?

The hoyt runs a "hybrid" cam system. Same as Bear, and PSE. It consists of 2 cams, the string, a control cable(runs from top cam to bottom cam) and a bus cable with static yoke(runs from bottom cam to yoke leg attachment on either side of top limb(s). Draw stops are either cam mounted(moveable peg of some sort) that contacts the cable.

Or the stops are part of the draw mod. These cam systems perform best when top cam is set for stop to hit a tad before the bottom stop. This exerts more tension on the control cable and creates a firmer back wall. It also makes the bow hold on target better. Cam lean for top cam can be adjusted for lean via the static yoke.

The Obsession, Elite, Strothers bows run a two track binary cam system. It is the 2 cams, a string, and 2 control cables. They are module adjustable with limb stops(the draw stops contact the limbs for an absolutely solid unmoveable back wall). These cams are timed for stops to hit at the exact same time.

Just like any other true dual cam bow. These bows normally have a bit larger valley and higher letoff but it can be tailored to an individuals liking by tweaking cables and string and adjusting draw stops.
