I am thinking of building another 7mm WSM. I have a sporter and a really heavy long range (McM A5, straight taper bbl to 0.9+", etc), so thinking of something in the middle, like around 10lbs (not a hard and fast goal).

Anyway, with the McM M40 Htg, what are you guys thoughts, especially anyone that has/has had a rifle with this stock, on a fluted Remington Varmint contour barrel?

I have a Rem 700 VSSF and seems to me that barrel profile would be a good choice with this stock, but open to others' opinions/advice.

Thanks,
Clint

Rem Varmint contour is a fine pic.
Rock 5 contour would be a fine pic too.
A real heavy 4 may work but I'd go 5 or bigger.

My M40A1 7RM has a broughton 5.5 contour, 2.5" shank, .250" lug and is about perfect as it gets. And puts it a bit over 10 lbs all up with a 16+ oz scope.

I have a Krieger 5.5 in my HTG Edge and with a large 30mm scope on top I am at 9.6lbs. Youre on the right track.

Hmmm, can't find that one on their website - they only show a 5, no 5.5.

A straight taper like the Light Target contour would be a nice one too.

1.200"-3" straight taper to .750"

They do it wink

Call and talk to Ch. It's the smallest contour they'll flute on 6.5mm.
