Can someone recommend a decent battery charger that will charge a dead battery. I'm tired of buying them only to find out that unless there is some charge left in the battery, the things wont give a charge.

Have you tried one with a manual setting? If it's discharged that low, it may be toast anyway.

None of them work great for a battery with zero charge left in it.
I decided after some trial and error that a spare battery on a battery tender is the best way to go.

Can you disconnect while it sits or are we talking a 2 year dead battery. A battery tender like Pira does is the next best option.

Not a long dead battery. Sometimes a grandkid will monkey with the dome light or the wife will forget and leave one on for all night. Next morning....dead battery.

I have an "old' charger and a new technology one. The new will not charge a dead battery, but my old century manual charger will. I see they still make them and I believe they make them for sears also.
