I have heard that some states will offer discounted tags for disabled veterans that are non-residents. It is usually above a certain service connection rating.

Do any of you know anything about this?

Thanks so much.

Idaho has a program that gives a limited number of reduced price tags to non-res disabled vets, but the vet has to be sponsored by some type of non-profit organization or something weird like that. Give the IDFG a call and find out the specifics.

I think you need to be 40% disabled, or have a purple heart AND a campaign ribbon.

Their website says this:
"Nonresident disabled veterans who meet these conditions may be eligible for reduced fees: hunting license $5; deer tag $10.75; elk tag $16.50; bear tag $6.75; and turkey tag $10.75."

I got screwed out of a purple heart (blew out an ear drum and royally [bleep] up my knees and back, but no blood was drawn so no bueno on the purple heart)...Gotta love daisy chained IEDs going off.

Oh well. Not a big deal. I am 30% service connected disabled. Semper Fi.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

Ya know, EVERY State ought to have tags for service disabled veterans...no charge for instate residents and minimal cost for non residents....

call me crazy, but disabled vets aren't taken care of enough, especially by states...

Oregon in my opinion is the MOST Veteran Unfriendly state in the Country....

That's good to know! Thanks!

Oregon res with I believe 40% rating get free hunting/fishing combo license, elk tag, and salmon/steelhead/halibut tag. Not sure about non-res. Nice to hear about Cal, blacktail and fall salmon can be awesome down there.
