A good while ago I asked you gentlemen about scope rings and bases for my 99E and was instructed to buy Weaver #14 and 19 bases and weaver rings. I purchased the bases and cannot find on line any rings that would fit into the narrow slots on the bases, I don't know much about scopes or mounts so please overlook my naivety. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Depending on what quality you wait, several companies make the Weaver style slot rings. Leupold, Burris, Warne, Millet, Weaver and others. I have a set of inexpensive set of rings you can have if you want.

I have always preferred the Weaver style mounts and rings, in the two-piece version. I think they look nice, and compliment the guns already good looks. I have always used the type with only a single screw on each side of the actual ring, and have never had a problem, until you get up to the magnum calibers (on other guns). Here is a look.

I prefer Weaver's rings when using Weaver bases. Weavers were always meant to be an economy scope mounting system, but they do seem to fit the 99 well. The other brand rings mentioned above all work well on Weaver bases, but they are not as wide as Weaver rings and leave a little of the base exposed. I know this isn't much but it is a little detail I find that just doesn't look very good.

I prefer Weaver Pivot mounts, or "tip overs" as Lightfoot likes to call 'em. laugh laugh laugh

Actually, it's the misuse of 'tipoff' that stokes my ire!!

Loads of rings that fit the Weaver style bases. I'd stay away from the ones made by weaver that have a hook on one side and a pair of screws on the other. They invariably cant the scope as you tighten the screws so the crosshairs are not level. I put up with it for years but I wouldn't use them now for anything. The new weaver with the 4 screws is a winner though!
