I am after a budget rangefinder. Anybody used the Redfield, and if so, what was your experience? I don't expect great long distance ranging out of it, but it has to give me at least 500 yards on game reliably (my previous experience with budget rangefinders has been that most couldn't achieve this). Is there another budget level rangefinder you wold recommend?

My hunting pard has one...not 'reliable' to 500. Around the same pricepoint is the ProStaff 550. That will give you on-game readings to and a hair past 500. JME

I have a Nikon 600 RF and it'll read to 600 and beyond on something reflective, but about 400 is all I can get out of it on a coyote or pig in early morning or late afternoon light. And it's not easy to get that 400 yard reading. I'd like something that reads out past 500 also. Next up for me will probably be one of the Nikon or Bushnell 1000's.
