does anyone know if they glue the saddle on or if its a one piece tube? Its just a muzzle loader scope but its cheaper than the Leupold 4X. Optics are not critical for my 50 yard shots, but don't want to buy trash. I have not bought a new weaver since 1972!

I bought a Weaver 4X in the last year. It is on a rifled-bore shotgun and I've been very pleased with it's clarity and brightness. And it has been very reliable.

Lotta scope for not much money.

But I have no idea how the scope is built. Just know it works very well.

10-4, about $150 bucks vs. $299 for the Leup, just want a sight that stays zeroed, but if the saddle is glued on, don't want it.

google is your friend...From their web site: "Crafted from a one-piece aircraft-grade aluminum tube..."

Also, if you look at a few pictures (also googled) it's pretty easy to see. And from personal experience, I own 2 of them, I think for the cost they are excellent.

Here is a link to a picture for you: Weaver Scope

Unless I completely missed what it was you want to know. Hope that helps you out.

I will caution you on one thing, the eye box is no Leupold for sure and using them on a long action, depending on what you like, may have you crawling up the stock to get the best site picture. Again, that said, I like mine just fine. (I also have a 6x and like it also)

Good luck. Glad to help.

I had a K-6 on a Rem 788 in .222 back before I knew what I was doing. Oddly enough I killed stuff just fine with it back in the 70's. Now with all I know it probably won't work.. smile

Yeah, it's amazing how we killed stuff with all that crude equipment.

I had a Savage 340 in .222 with a 3/4" J-4 Weaver, not as nice as your combo. I killed all sorts of stuff, even whacked crows at 200 yds. No way would that rig kill a 200 yd. crow today... shocked

I did upgrade to a Rem 700 in .222 with a K-10 Weaver and moved that Savage down the road. Actually a good friend ended up with it and he didn't know it wouldn't kill stuff, did pretty well with it... laugh

I had a Zeiss Diavari on my Encore 209x50 that I moved to my Roberts and hate to spend money on the black powder rifle that I shoot about 3 times a year (two sighters, 1 deer)! I have a nicer scope I could put on it now but want to save for a 223 bolt gun I intend to buy. The Leup 4X or Weaver 4X with one being half the price of the other seem logical choices.

You could likely find a Leupold M8 4X for around $150 if you have more confidence in Leupold.

The newer aluminum K4 is one solid piece. There is no saddle at the turret area, it's all machined out of one piece of tube.

If you see one let me know, I would rather have the Leup 4X but rather not deal with ebay!

Thanks for the info, MM.

I had no idea that the newer Weavers have one-piece tubes.

I've had both FX-II's and Classic K's...I'd rather have the Weaver. The FX-3 smoke's 'em both to my eyes, but it's spendy.
