Found this info on the Marlin Sight
"Model 93: 1921 or 22 to 1935. 30-30, 32-40, 32HPS, 38-55 Early serial numbers are located under the receiver just behind the forearm. Later numbers are on the lower tang under the lever. Serial numbers have A, C,C suffix, and L. L prefix Model 93 serial numbers were 1935 production"
I'm also trying to find out production numbers etc...

So what do you think the range of value is for a Marlin in this kind of condition? I do not want to sell but have no real first hand knowledge either so I'm curuious. I do not want to get taken advantage of if I decide to trade it off at some point in the future.

ROMAC, Being a later model 94, probably made in the early 1920's ,in real nice condition like that one about $1200-$1500 range, i bought one just like it about 2 weeks ago in 44-40. if you go to the Marlin Owners site, parley baer is compiling info on the late model 93's and 94's im sure he can give you a close date. I also collect Marlins and Winchesters not just Savages. Don

Thanks Don, you confirmed a dollar range I was thinking. I'm hoping to shoot it a little bit when the weather breaks.

Don't know if you got yours dated yet, but for all Marlin and other gun owners go to, oldguns.net.....You can date Marlins from 1883 to 1990 just by typing in the first 3 digits of serial number or letter code. It just pops up your date. For your Marlin click on modern longarms on the sidebar and then on Marlin. Follow instructions. It's easy. I just found it through another forum the other day to date mine. Happy Trails!!

That site does not work for mine because of the "A" prefix.

I did not notice that big gap between 1906 and 1948 before. That stinks!
