I have been wanting to try Windhoek because of reading about it here, but have never had the chance. After drinking Castle and Black Label for the last two weeks I had the opportunity to try Windhoek on the way home. I must say that I preferred the Castle and Black Label.

Savanna Dry Cider, with a thin slice of lemon. Ahhhh, refreshing!

Ellice tried that, but I didn't. I will have to ask her about it.

Did you get a chance to try Tafel Lager? It is my fave compared to WH Lager, Castle, and Black Label, but I do like all of these quite well.

With Namibia's German heritage, they should be able to produce a good beer.

My PH Fred Bezuidenhout told me you would need a stone to keep Tafel lager down. I enjoy Windhoek as well as Castle. When you are in Africa hunting though they are all good.

ElJuero,

Yes, yes they are. It was awful crisp and refreshing at the end of the day. And I didn't turn up my nose at the Black Label Jim Beam either.

I had trouble with which I liked best between WH tafel or WH lager. So I had one each for dinner each night. Two beers doesn't seem like much until your working on a third and realize they are 1\2 liter bottles. There are so many things to enjoy in Namibia and the beer is definitely one them.

Tusker is nice and I can't complain about the can of Manica I had while I was in Mozambique. Hard to complain about any brew though when this your view.

I liked the Tafel better than the Windhoek but they were both pretty ordinary. Now the Camelthorn is an entirely different story. I suggest trying that one if you get a chance.

The French foisted that crap off on their colonies, and it formaldehyde in a brown bottle! I've had it Cameroon, I've had it Martinique, and it sux everywhere. Sad thing is, France has some good brew, especially in Alsace, but the Germans have been know to own that region periodically. wink

I have a feeling the only time hatari, or any of you other "jagters" says "no" to a beer offering is when someone asks you if you've had enough!

The best beer I've ever had was in Cameroon, Africa and I've traveled the world. Beer sampling was done in each country where I've traveled.

$1 a liter - glass container. High alcohol content...

But free beer is always good, especially when it is not too warm. But that Cameroon beer was good without the advantage of refrigeration.

I prefer classic.
