I am currently reading The Legend of Pierre Bottineau & The Red River Trail by Ted Stone and Scotland: The Story of a Nation - Magnus Magnusson. Both excellent, extremely informative and entertaining reads.

I'm reading the complete works of Sherlock Holmes. It's a long read but broken up obviously into many stories. Pretty cool. Had never read all of them and been a long time for the ones I had.

I usually manage to get 5 or 6 books a week read. This week, it's a John LeCarre novel, "A Most Wanted Man", a sea thriller by Alexander Kent, "Last Man in Berlin", by Gaylord Dold, and "Exit Music", by Ian Rankin. Next week, I'll be back on Navel history.

I'm almost finished with The Seal of God. It's good for someone who wants to know EVERYTHING a navy seal has to do in training . I just finished Orange is the New Black and The Devil in Pew #7. I'm reading Armed and Smart and it's a great resource for concealed carry.

I'm reading the complete works of Sherlock Holmes. It's a long read but broken up obviously into many stories. Pretty cool. Had never read all of them and been a long time for the ones I had. I read that somewhat passively. I have it on my phone for when I find myself places just waiting around with nothing to do but read. Greatest free book there is if you ask me. Holmes is a crack up, and the books are brilliantly written. You could never get away with a hero today who's also a cocaine addict (and whatever else he's experimenting with).

Lords of Finance: The Bankers Who Broke the World by Liaquat Ahamed
For an economics geek like me, this is a truly fascinating book; very well written and researched. It chronicals all the financial turmoil of first the collapse of the gold standard in WWI, then the state of perpetual crisis as nations who borrowd 3-4x their GDP try to pay off debts after WWI...all leading to the Great Depression.
Next on deck is A Secret History of the IRA by Ed Moloney
Love reading about history.

Along with being an outstanding historian, Ambrose was a first rate writer. EVERY ONE of his books grabs you like a great thriller novel. Oh to have 1% of such talent.
