I need to remove the barrel from the action for rust bluing.

The rifle is not yet in hand for examination.

I am looking for the proper fixtures to remove the barrel. Or diagrams/instructions for making them.

Any tips or leads would be appreciated!

RHA,

FWIW I have removed more than a few Marlin 97 and 39 barrels by placing the barrel in a vice (protected jaws with lead or aluminum) and used a LARGE adjustable wrench around the receiver (protected with wood)....have not had any issues. If you don't feel comfortable doing that most gunsmiths can remove them for you quickly.
