I came across a deal I could not pass up on a Remington 700 ADL .243 synthetic stock, VX2 scope, case, sling, and 12 unopened boxes of the mentioned cartridges. Anybody got any deer effectiveness experience with this factory load?

They kill stuff. While other stuff kills stuff a smidge deader (in a 243), stuff is still dead.

Deadly little round, with the 243 I usually pick a spot on the head if within 200 yards , past that I'll make a neck shot.

Saddle up and go hunt. So don't leave us all hanging. None of the polite people will ask but ....what did you give for it? (If you don't mind telling) Quick story, I gave a friend a Sightron 3-12x42 SII to put on his nice looking 243 M70 Featherweight. He sold that rig with the SII , a shotgun and a 270 Remington 8400 for $500 in order to fund a synthetic Weatherby Vanguard in 270. I was ticked ...until he explained that no one in Texas would want to buy a Model 70 in 243. I think my response was something like "yeah, or a Ford F-150".

This rifle looks new. I have already painted the stock. It came with sights (which I wish it didnt have). I have ordered the Rem hooded ramp front sight to replace the one that is on it. I think it looks snazier. I may keep it, sell it not sure. I need to shoot it.

I have killed exactly 2 deer with almost the same set up. Both deer were within 50 yards of me and while I cannot say that they were "boom-flops" neither deer went out of sight. I had complete pass thrus with both deer. I will admit that 2 is a very small sample, it certainly did the trick.

Not the same rifle, but had problems with the Federals. I picked up a .243 99 Savage in really good shape a while back. I did not want to reload for it, so I bought a box each of the big three. I could not get the Federal or Winchester to group better than 5.5 inches @ 100 yards and the extraction was sticky. Too hot. Remington was right in there and extracted like butter. Weird.

Before I started loading all my hunting ammo, the blue box Federal was the first thing I reached for.

12 boxes? If they shot well enough in that rig I would run as-is. I've only used 100gr Remington CLs on deer but sure as heck wouldn't give a second thought on using those Federals. Good snatch by the way!

I picked up some blue box federal 243 a while back. It was loaded pretty hot actually. Enough so that I pulled the bullets and loaded the brass with my favorite load instead of shooting it up first.

The 243 and factory loads with regular bullets back in the 60 and 70's were killing the chit out of deer before people today realized the 243 wasn't powerful enough without the best bonded bullet for even a 75 lb deer . I could hunt deer the rest of my life with your rifle and load and never need more .
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.
