Have used them extensively over the last 44 yrs before the interlock and since. I consider them the standard to judge other c&c bullets, still do. Never had the 139 gr 7mm fail me and use them in my 7mm Rem at 3175fps.As some of the others suggested from 22 to 375 cal they just flat work. MM

My sole use of an IL on deer illustrates this perfectly. 130gr .270 over 58gr H4831 hit buck at 35-40 yards, about half-way up, right behind the shoulder. Knocked a clump of hair off the far side, but didn't exit. No blood trail at all due to the position of wound, but the chest was totally souped. Found the bullet rolling around in the mess. It definitely held together, but the lack of an exit wound caused me a little a anxiety until I found the hair. Deer went about 150 yards. If I had placed the shot a little lower, the heart would have been hit by fragments and possibly I would have had an exit wound for a blood trail.
This is by far the most accurate bullet I've ever fired in the old M70, but for close-up stuff, and due to the remote possibility of seeing a bear, I've switched to 160gr NPs.
I also promise this is the last time I shoot this deer on this forum. I think he's finally dead.
What fresh Hell is this?

Interlocks are stellar performers on deer. I load 150s in my wife's 308, and 180s in my '06s back when I hunted with '06s. My daughter glommed on my favorite '06, and the other one creased my forehead badly the last time I shot it, so I shoot smaller, less powerful rounds now for the most part. Lately, I've been loading 180gr SSTs for the daughter and they work incredibly well on deer. Leaves big nasty holes.
Our God reigns. Harrumph!!! I often use quick reply. My posts are not directed toward any specific person unless I mention them by name.

Hornadys 165gr.IL in my favorite .30-06Spr. is my go to Deer bullit cuz its way more accurate than the Nosler's...Since I live n hunt in the Pacific North West where Black Bear n Elk tend ta run same season n same Geographical area...I also use the Hdy 180gr.BTSP.More for the Bear n Elk than Deer...With a Real nice 200yd Zero...I can still hold on Hide at 400 or so yds. and tag out almost every year.I don't horn hunt anymore...just want the meat...n a .30 cal 180 gr will never let U downwhen U put one in the Boiler room ScottyO.
