I recently received one of these in .338 RCM as a warranty replacement for my defective Hawkeye .338 RCM.

When I got it, I looked it over good, and I noticed the vent hole in the receiver is not perfectly round like my other Rugers, but more of a lopsided hole, just wondering if you guys have the same thing going on.

I called Ruger yesterday to find out if it's dangerous or a defect, they're going to call me back, it looks like schit either way, IMO.

SAUMHUNTER79 - Ruger recently sent me a notice to check my recently purchased RAR rimfire in .17HMR. Some rifles went out the door w/o a vent hole. According to their production spec's
a vent hole was designed to be there. Maybe that they caught your Guide Gun in packing and did a hurry up job causing the lopsided look. Just a thought. Homesteader.

I don't believe that's the case, Homesteader.

The lady I spoke to had one sitting right next to her and said it had the same lopsided vent hole.

According to her, the Guide Guns are made on a separate machine, unlike the rest of the Hawkeyes.

I spoke to Ruger again, they said it's not a safety concern and will function as designed, it's just butt ugly. I think I'll have a gunsmith round out the hole properly.

I have a 375 Ruger guide Gun and the vent hole is perfectly round.
