I'm browsing the regulations and picking my hunts to put in for. Tomorrow's the deadline for Idaho big game applications. I'm going for Idaho 54 deer again, 51 antelope, and one of the November island park bull elk tags. I might have to try for the extra whitetail doe tag just for bullet testing and some extra jerky. It just hit me tonight and the excitement for hunting season is running through my veins.

It's been 6 weeks since my back surgery and I'm walking better and further than I've been able to for two years. I'm going to work hard to get back in shape so I can do some real hunting this year. Last year wasn't bad given that I bagged my cow moose and a decent 4x4 mulie but it was pretty painful getting it done. I'm feeling pretty optimistic this year so let's hope I draw some tags.

Is anyone else getting the fever yet?

Good luck on your hunts, hope we both draw in 51 for antelope. I am dealing with back issues as well but am going to give it hell.

I am in for the early Unit 55 mule deer hunt and the Unit 52A/68 elk tag. I think this will be year 12 for the big "unsuccessful"...

BB great to hear about your back; that must be extraordinarily freeing!

Ha ha oh yeah! For this year? No doubt! Goin w/ a buddy from church and our oldest sons to Wyoming. We're waiting IMpatiently for draw results!

As a matter of fact, I'm already super excited for NEXT year! Talking w/ 2 members of the 'fire right now about potential hunts; one w/ a fellow Michigander to Wyoming for elk and another w/ a friend in SD for deer! Decisions, decisions!

I call these "high class problems"; SO much to be grateful for!

Looking for 18 cows since I struck out on 18 bull last year. Threw in for an Owyhee area antelope hunt as well, but seems like Speed Goats are a tough draw.

Best of luck to you all. Does anyone remember when about the 'back door' opens up?

The wife drew a moose tag for Unit 7. Me and the misses also put in for extra doe and extra cow. I also put in for Unit 40 late deer. Now just hurry up and wait.

I'm going for Idaho 54 deer again, 51 antelope,

I haven't applied for deer for a few years. We apply for elk and hunt deer in open hunts depending on whether we draw for elk or not.
They really put the screws to the bowhunters in 54 this year by making it a controlled hunt. That's one of the most popular bowhunting units in the state.

I haven't managed to draw for antelope for many years. The last time was in 52 at least 15 years ago. Antelope is one of the hardest tags to draw that we have with odds of 25 to 1 or worse.

This will be my 4th year attempting to kill an Idaho wolf. I plan on 18 days getting my butt kicked by the terrain between Stanley and Salmon. I can't wait, I think I like most everything in Idaho that isn't in a city. I just added fishing to my list of addictions so I will have a challenge on rest days too.

ID wolf tags are plentiful. You're welcome to buy your limit of 5.

The 1st year they had a season I bought 3 tags, that proved to be a bit optimistic. Now I think I will fill one before buying another. Thanks for the encouragement.
