I was humbled and honored to be able to shake the hand of one of our veterans, who also happens to be a D-Day survivor. On top of that he is a member of "Easy" Company "The Band of Brothers" and one of the last 18 survivors. Thank you Mr. Bernat. Ed is the first one listed...

Yes, a true honor. Every anniversary I think of my departed father in law. He was one feisty little dude. He survived the Battle of the Bulge and God knows what else, but the only story he liked to tell was the time he shot a German, who he was taking prisoner, in leg for mouthing off to him. It was the day after the war officially ended, so he had some 'splaining to do. He loved telling that story. He's greatly missed.

I shook the hand of a 90 year old WW2 vet today in the dentist office. He fought his war in the Philippines. My own dad would be 92 in October.
