I know pics are hard to judge, but what do you think he is? For what it's worth, the pup is seven weeks old.

Heinz 57. Cute as well, a pup, or course. He looks intelligent and will likely make a great companion and never have a sick day in its life.

Good looking pup!
Shep with sumptin'! Airedale or some other wire hair breed is my guess as well.

Looks like a strong medium size companion which will hunt and protect you after a few more months.

He was presented as a purebred Irish Wolfhound, but I don't think that is the case.

When I was a teen,..this Lab mix wandered up and hung around.
Old Branford Davis was out in his yard one day when I came along with my new dog.
Branford was the local dog expert and hog scraper who lived down the road,...usually drank a fifth of whiskey before dinner time,...
I asked him,.."What kinda dog is this?"
"Looks like a chit eater to me", he says.
I never asked again.

I also told him that I was thinkin' 'bout takin' him out to chase coons with my Papaw's Black and Tans.
Branford says,.."That sumbitch couldn't smell a skunk".

He was presented as a purebred Irish Wolfhound, but I don't think that is the case. had an Irish Wolfhound back in the early 70s, and known a few other people who had one...or two... as cute as he is, I don't think Irish Wolfhound is in there... they are pretty darn big dogs, even when young...

Kinda hurt my feelins at the time,...but lookin' back,..I suspect he was right,...but still,...he coulda used a bit more tact.
,..But I guess "tact" is a bit much to ask from some old woodsy who makes his livin' scrapin' fuggin' hogs.

My first impression was Airedale mix. But, now that you mention it,... A neighbor of mine bought an Irish Wolfhound pup a few years ago and it didn't look anything like what you'd think an Irish Wolfhound pup would look. That's how it is with lots of pups. Some go through drastic changes during their first year. Example: This is my Drahthaar pup at 8 weeks... 12 months later...
