OK, I'm tired of getting sniped on e-bay!

I'm looking for the correct sight for my pre-mil 99R(S)
I'm given to understand that it is a Redfield micrometer receiver sight (peep sight) No. 70LH.

Anyone here have one (or know of one) that's available?

OK.. I understand that there's a Lyman and perhaps even a Williams tang-mounted (non-folding type) peep-site for this rifle. I'll consider any of them!

Thanks!

Brian, are you looking for a Redfield because you think by adding it it will become an RS or is this the type of sight that you feel most comfortable shooting with?

By the look of the pic it looks to be just a model R and has the original sights it would have come with. If Jim sold it as an R it's an R and putting a 70LH on it won't make it an RS (although some auction sellers tend to disagree).

Yours is a pre-mil that was factory D&T'd so a Weaver K4 would also be period for it. Or if you'd like to find out what it left the factory as a letter to John Callahan will tell you the original model if you think it was an RS but a gun that late in production means the model is probably all that J.C. could tell you.

Hope this helped a bit.

Thanks Joe! I prefer a peep sight over a scope, is all.

Makes sense to me, I got a better group last week with a Parker Hale tang sight than I did with a Boone scope so I won't knock them.

Try Williams. I believe they still produce a micrometer adjustable receiver sight in their FoolProof (FP) line. It mounts to the rear factory D&T scope base holes. Current price is somewhere around $60.00 or slightly more. They will sell to you direct. Brownell's also carries the Williams line.
The Redfield 70 series would be nice to have but is, as you've learned, almost impossible to obtain. I have one as well as the Lyman 57 and it would take alot of $$ to get them away from me. I also have the Williams sight and it works well.

Thanks for the help, guys. I found a pristine example of the original Redfield sight for $125.00.

FYI the Williams sight mounts to the rear scope-mount. That's not correct for this particular rifle and was why I wouldn't settle for one of them.

I have one on a .22 Marlin and it shoots great, though.

Brian, the Williams peeps are two different models, some are made for the factory D&T'd rifles and some are made for the 1899 tang holes, you just have to find the right model, glad to hear you found what you wanted.
