My lowly push feed in .300 H&H Mag, one of the first push feeds done in H&H in 1988 as a limited run for Wammes Corporation (now Acusport). They offered a standard and a Safari Grade, this one is the latter. My new (to me), as yet unfired .358 STA... Those are a beautiful pair of rifles. I really like that 358 STA though! What an animal!

WP: sounds like a cool rifle. just curious. Is the trigger on the custom shop 88 as bad as the standard triggers? I have never had a bad pre 64 trigger, I guess I am lucky, I usually am able to tune them myself but I have a smith in Tallahassee FL, Mark Rains that will super tune one that I cannot, he is a PRO I leave stoning the sear to him. very best WinPoor

My experience is the same as yours with M70's (pre or post), but every 88 have had or tried had a very mushy trigger, and from what I have read, very few 'smiths can help them much. Just wondering if the 88's from the custom shop had triggers that were any better.

The win model 100's had crappy triggers too..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Cool looking rifle bsa, I like the mounts. Here's one I've been playing with. A supergrade Win. 70 in 338 WM. It's ser. # G166XX, anyone know the approx. date of manufacture? It's a nice shooter with the 210 TSX's but I haven't had any luck with the partitions...210's or 250's. Yet..... Scoped with a Burris 3x9 E1. I bedded the lug, tuned the trigger and it doesn't show in the pic but I've since installed a Williams extractor. That's a nice looking rifle! The finish on that stock (looks like hand rubbed) looks exactly like my Sako 75 Hunter .270 Win.

Just wondering if the 88's from the custom shop had triggers that were any better. I must not have been clear on my post, photos. I have never owned a Win mod 88, I do have a mod 100 in 308 and I lucked out there as I zeroed after scoping 3 model 100's of the 3 mine had the best trigger by far,Im betting luck of the draw as the other 2 were pure grunters! I also have my FIL's mod 490, the mod 100's baby brother in .22 lr. They were made or put together in Canada for just a year or 3, fantastic .22's with a big rifle feel BUT they too have grunter triggers that my smith says that there is very little he can do to tune or help, that is a shame as mine has a fantastic barrel and the only thing keeping it from shooting with KIDD 10-22's is the trigger! Maybe I cleared things up, I think you were referring to a Custom shop Sporter Varmint mod 70 in 22-250 that was born in 1988. very best WinPoor

Went back and re-read your post. 88 was the year it was made, not the model #.

It's a great reference for me when I'm scratching my head trying to decide which scope mount and scope to throw on my rifle. I'm having that dilemma right now. I guess that can be a new topic all together

Here's my recent purchase. '51 Supergrade in 30-06, swivels and original sling. Barrels a bit worn and it took me 6 different projectiles to find what she really liked. Hornady 150gr interlocks go under an inch. Has a really nice 'seen some use' patina.

Thanks for the comments guys. I really like how the right hand side of the butt- the blond wood sunbursts on that side then fades back to dark. Really cool. It came with Redfield two piece bases and blind screw rings. I might try and find a one piece base though as I think it may look better with the small objective bell on my 4x33 Leupold.
Anyone got some shots of a similar set-up on their mod 70??

Frst, are you asking if we have any pics of model 70's with the 1 piece base and leupold 4x scope? I don't think I do, but some of the other guys here might.

I think I'd give an eye tooth for a pre-64 in 35 Whelen.
