My sister's 4 and 6 year olds (boy and girl) and my 4 year old (boy) are gonna spend a week with gramps and grandma in July. My son has been hunting with me since age 2, but my sister's kids haven't gotten out yet though have expressed interest in shooting and hunting. Gramps is chomping at the bit to get them all started shooting.
All 3 kids are all fairly small framed, so after some research, I decided to get them a wood stocked Savage Rascal in .22. Picked one up this morning at the LGS, but the shelves were void of ammo. Luckily, the clerk pulled out a bulk pack of winchester ammo from behind the counter and let me know they were keeping some around for those purchasing rifles. It was well priced and should give the kids a heckuva start.
Just sharing my excitement. Looking forward to getting the next generation of outdoorsmen started.

You have an enjoyable time ahead of you. It is a blessing to be able to introduce those young kids to the outdoors and our sport. Enjoy your time and teach them well!

Considering their age/size probably the best choice for them (I've got one, had others).

Excellent!

Yep, this will be a good thing Sir. I bought a pair of Cricket rifles before my grandsons were born. It has turned out to be a great investment. They are 8 now, my how time flies.
