The Kemper's, owners of the Blue Bonnet, are old family friends. Reputed to have the best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas. The pies are renowned throughout the land. Old Aggie family.

Well if you was there during the week, I'd say go by Larry Bowles muffler shop across from the walmart on 281, north side of town. He runs a gunshop out of there too. Dang nice guy! Usually has some pretty good stuff. And pretty decent deals. Unfortunately on weekends he does the gunshow thing.

Buzz Gillis The Blue Bonnet Cafe is hard to beat for a "Home Cooked" kind of joint. One of my favorites, too. And there homemade mashed potatoes & pies or to die for. Also, if you drive just about 10 miles to Burnet, the Storm's Burgers Drive-in has a killer Tripple Cheeseburger that's awesome. They have been in business since the 1950's and grind their own fresh beef. Great milkshakes, too. But being that I'm almost a bonafide Chicken Fried Steak Eggspurt,  with a belly to prove it, I think Mary's Cafe in Strawn Texas has the worlds best Chicken Fried Steak. Even I can't eat a large steak there.  They've been featured on Texas Country Reporter several times as the best Chicken Fried Steak in TX, and I for one would agree.

I always drive through Marble Falls, then turn east on HWY 71 and come up across the Perdanles and through Bee Cave, and stop at Sportsman's Finest. I need to buy that Custom De Leon Bowie, the next time I'm in McBrides, if it's still there.
