Just wondering if all went well and a certain "logger" survived his first tour of duty.

I've found it hard to survive the trip back home...

Two Crowns on the flight to Anchortown
Too many Crowns in the airport lounge
Numerous Crowns on flight home

...my first morning back is always with a hang-over. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Still cain't figure why your opening line was "I thought you were taller?!!?". Too funny.

All is good here and it's a nice switch being the resident greenhorn, that can't know nothin' about nothin'.

Life is very good.............................

I've been gone for 2 months, except a few day for orientation. I'll be up Thursday for 3 weeks. Might even see the boats get wet.

Actually there has been a little logging in Prudhoe Bay, atop the downhole logging.

Jim Weeks was ARCO AK pres and slope manager for a while back about 15 years or so. He and his wife hired some guys to cut some trees in their yard because they were blocking their view. "Loggers went crazy" and strayed onto city park property and continued whacking. Fines levied (though I doubt they were collected) ran about a grand per sapling. There were lots of saplings...

Anyway, an old construction camp attached to the Main Construction Camp (MCC) was removed, leaving all the driven pile in place because it was in a lake after the gravel had settled, with meltwater and rain to build it and all solidly in place in the permafrost.

Somebody slipped out to the midle of the pond and placed a large sign, "Jim and Marty Weeks Memorial Forest." Each time it was taken down a new one showed up within days..

I told all the gents there, that I was a freshly fallen victim off the Turnup Truck. None held it agi'n me.

Was lucky enough to be well received,by a very good buncha guys. Never gave thought to shading my ineptitude and seemingly noone held being green against me.

Have been many places, with varied lots of folks and was genuinely impressed with the 'Slope boys' candor.

I shook many hands with conviction and was feeling very lucky to score as well as I did. Have been living in camps for 20yrs and sidled in nicely amongst the current lot.

A most impressive bunch and I'm privelaged.......................

Good on ya, hope it works out great for everyone, IMO&E running a husky the size you do for a living ain't an old man's gig.

Ain't saying you are old but we are all headed there, unless of course we make a habit of kicking over biker's Harleys. (grin)

I found the slopers to by and large be a very good lot. There are a few a-holes, but they seem to be the ones that don't realize how good they have it.

Paul,

I've been many places and have seen many things,so feel I'm a "fair" barometer of personal evaluations.

I was/am floored at the relative prospect of the average 'Sloper. Fact is,I gave my video camera away,to a guy I'd only talked to for 5 minutes,so he'd do his pending Afican Safari justice.

He lamented the notion, but I insisted and I'm thinking we'll both be better for it.

Simply put,I've been exposed to an amazingly good buncha guys, that truly givva [bleep].

Most refreshing........................
