wife,...french canadians

My connections know how to behave.

If they didn't,..they would have never been one of my connections in the first place.

Dad used to have a colleague and "friend" � The Right Reverend Headley Plunkett � who used to bring his not-all-there daughter over here from Ireland once a year for treatment.

Would stay with the folks several days at a time. Expected � tacitly demanded � that Mom and Dad treat him and his like royalty � as if they were servants, and at Dad's expense. Oh, of course always at Dad's expense.

And of course, as gracious Southerners, Mom and Dad hosted 'em cheerfully and graciously. (Pissed me off no end.)

Apparently, typical furriners think that all Americans who live in anything better than a hut or a hogan are rich and accustomed to entertaining guests in grand style.

My wife thought it best to get them away from me,..so she's taking them around town until their flight leaves at 2PM.

Now I've got some decompression to do.

Boiled eggs, beans, bananas, beer and cigars.

Actually,...my wife started doing that this morning with no prompting from me.

The woman is one of my wife's long time friends.

Her man is new on the scene.

The man is a jerk,..and the woman feels the need to defer to his jerkitude and joins in with it.

I don't know either one of them and don't care to,...obviously, but it's evident that there's been a severing of the friendship between my wife and her long time friend.

I *really* don't like to find myself in situations like this.

I'm a casual kind of guy,..and I enjoy the company of casual people.

But I guess this stuff crops up on occasion.

,...nothing to do but write it up to experience and see to it that it never happens again.

I'm tellin' ya,..DAMN!.

I've met a lot of Canadians since my wife and I married. The vast majority of them are fine folks and we get along famously.

But every now and then, there'll come along some people from up there that just don't meld with a Kentucky perspective.

Future potential guests will be closely inspected from now on.

Ah the Quebequois, I sympathize with you, now you know how the rest of us Canadians feel, they're always threatening to separate from the rest of Canada but they just never leave....a disease there is no cure for.

A good friend of my wife and I came last July 3rd for the weekend. She had her 8 year old son, whom we love, and her ex-husband, whom we've never met.

Apparently he's not good on anything harder than beer, but he went straight for the Jack. I figured it wasn't my job to tell a 40 year what he can/can't drink. All was well for awhile but then the switch flipped. He got a little upset over some conversation we were all having and just threw half his drink on the floor and walked away.

I told our mutual friend that she needs to get him to bed now and when you get up in the morning you will be leaving.

I hated for her and her son to go, but jackass wasn't staying.

Hell, I've kicked family out of the house before too.

About 22 years ago I remember mom visiting me and the wife in LA. One night she started he sheit and then said 'When Robin (wife) goes to work in the morning she can drop me off at the airport'

I said 'Why wait till morning.' I threw her stuff in a suitcase, told her to get into the car and drove 30 miles to the first motel I knew of and dropped her off at 9pm.

How she was going to get the 20 miles to airport I didn't know and I didn't care.

I fall under the "Someone who lives primarily in the Canadian province of Quebec".

"They" as you refer to them are known as a "Sovereignists" or "Separatists" not "Quebecois". Further to that, not all Quebecois are "Sovereignists" or "Separatists". I am neither, and would prefer not to be lumped into the category.

AKA FROG?

This wasn't my first encounter with French Canadians.

My wife is from Ottawa,...just across the river from Quebec. She has interacted with enough of them that she speaks fairly fluent French.

I've met quite a few of them and have found most to be good folks.

All of the rest have been women. (being friends of my wife)

This is the first male I've become familiar with.

I'll be a bit reticent about extending my hospitality to any French Canadians males I encounter from now on.

This one demonstrated a wholly undeserved sense of superiority.

I've rambled on enough about it.

3 days is a long time to have to fight the urge to slap somebody crosseyed.

,..I'll get over it in a little while.

But right now, I'm tense.

You're a better man than me.

My nature has me handling matters such as these closer to Bristoe's style but I have put in an extraordinary amount of hours at the office for invented clients when the situation called for such.

Funny how handling confrontation outside my home is a piece of cake while being a puzzy at home on matters like these is my norm.
