I was just doing some more reading on other sites and see that just a standard pistol load is a good choice to go with so think I will try 22 gr of 2400 and see how she groups

Frank, I was playing with 44Special brass and 180gr XTPs. Used 8.5gr Unique. Still smile when I remember how fun of a load that is.

I feed my .44 rifle the same loads I do my revolvers, with the exception of the Beartooth "Long cylinder" bullets meant to exploit the room a SuperBlackhawk, Redhawk, and SuperRedhawk have in their cylinders. My rifle is a 77/44, and the magazine strictly limits it to 1.610". I can get away with 1.725" in my SuperBlackhawk, and 1.775" in my Redhawk.

I also have a Ruger new model super black hawk with a 10 1/2 in barrel and it loves the 2400 powder 22.5 gr and a 240 cast bullet It would be nice to have a load that both shoot good Hoping to go to the range tomorrow and do some plinking

I found a few 240 gr XTP loaded with 24.5 gr of 296 and at 50 yards she was keeping them in at just around 2 inches so I think I will keep it at that load for deer hunting this fall

It depends. Marlins have had to types of rifling, Ballard and micro groove. I have had both and I wish I kept the newer Ballard. It seemed like it wasn't as 'touchy'.
Some guys can get great accuracy with 300 grain bullets, I haven't tried them yet. I seem to get better groupings with 200 than 240 weights.

The one I picked up is a Texan model 1864 micro grove It has a few hunting scares on the stock a good brush hunter It shoots real good with the 200 gr but am hoping to find a 180 or 300 gr for more energy to knock down one of them big ridge runners

I wish I had more time to work with mine and find the sweet spot. I have been shooting the WWBox lately, they are about as good as it gets for my marlin.
Some guys claim 1-2 inches at 100 yards, blessed i guess.

2-3 inches, usually 2shots are really close then the third opens it up.

Viking these rifles are not a tac driving bolt gun, and to get under a 2 inches group at a 100 yards I think are a stretch to say the least

Might not be of any use because mine has the ballard rifling, but 21 gr H110 and Speer 270 gr will hold minute of Copenhagen can at 100 with XS open sights. I've been tempted to throw a scope on just for giggles and test different loads, but would be pointless as it doesn't wear one anyway. The Lazercast 240s lead mine like a mofo, and don't feed flawlessly, but shoot pretty decent until the lead builds up. I've some Beartooth 250s that shoot really well, and feed with nary a hiccup.

I have a 336 in 35 rem that shoots a lot better than the 44 mag It is an older one with ballard grove cast or jacked just peep sights on that one

You must be getting blind like me , with open sights at 50 yards I am at about 2 1/2 to 3 inches ,it seems like thay shot the same two tight shots and a drifter ,
