Anyone have any experience with the Redfield Revolution scopes, specifically the 2x7x33? Iam looking for a compact scope to put on a 308. I had decided on a Leupold. The Revolution appears to be about identical to the VX-2. Made in America by Leupold, same warranty, same practical features, for about $100 less. Any opinions?

Mr. Ingwe, Nice looking desert porker there (tasty too I bet!). Pretty fancy rifle to be wearing that scope, no? Kinda like putting used tires on the Ferrari?
Glad to hear you like the scope, I've been thinking I may pick one up for a "loaner" rifle I'm working up.
Hope the four leggeds are still doing well.

It tis a nice rifle, but I consider the Redfield a nice scope Its the rifle version of a 'point and shoot' camera. The 2x7 will work at most normal hunting distances, and the .223AI shoots flat enough at those distances ( under 300 yes) that you just 'point and shoot'.

I like the 2-7 Revolutions. Plenty of eye relief and clear glass. They're easy to "get behind" as well. Here's a pic of one on my sons RAR Compact 223....
I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

They are virtually identical to the VX-2's made 3-4 years ago. Leupold upgraded the entire VX lineup in 2012. Current VX-1's are essentially the same scope as the older VX2's and current VX-2's are essentially the same scope as older VX-3's. I have 2 of the Revolution scopes, a 2-7X and 3-9X. Both are very good and I have no regrets buying them. At the time they were a great choice. But if buying today I'd buy the VX-2 if in my budget. The Revolution compares very close to the current VX-1 and would be a tossup I think. I don't care as much for the long range reticle on the Redfield. But if buying the standard reticle it doesn't matter. In about the same price range I also like the Burris. The 2-7X35 Burris is only about $150. To be honest, I like the Burris better even if at the same price. http://swfa.com/Burris-2-7x35-Fullfield-II-Rifle-Scope-P5972.aspx

It would be a non issue on a low recoiling rifle though. I've never owned a Burris. I always liked the view through them but in 40 years of looking through scopes in pawn shops, I have only seen two broken reticles and both were Burris. Not saying they are any more likely to break than any other but that kind of thing causes a guy to be prejudiced.

I had one, replaced it with a K4. Nothing wrong with the scope, image was very good, I broke it(my fault) and Leupold fixed it and sent it back in less than 3 weeks. By that time I had the K4 dialed in and saw no reason to switch back. The put the 3-9x40 version on my Dad's 8mm Gibbs and have had zero issues with it. Very good glass and stellar customer service.

R H Clark,
I had a 2-7x Burris FF II on a .300 Weatherby for several hundred shots, and never had a problem with eye relief or anything else.
In fact have had less trouble with Burris scopes than most brands, whether more expensive or not. But the Redfields are good too.

I very much like the Accu-Range reticle; not so much for the intended use, but as a sort of "ghost ring" to help me center.

I have the 2-7x33 on my 223. Glass is great, as clear as my Leupold vx2.
Great scope for the money IMO.

I have one on my 7600 30-06. It is my foul weather gun.
Last year, I spent about 4 hrs out in a snow storm. Had no fogging issues.
From what I was told, they are the same glass and features as the current VX 1.
I took mine to the field last fall with a Bushnell Elite 3200 and Burris Fullfield II- all 3-9s. I sat at the edge of a field till dark.
I would say that the Redfield fell behind in the last light clarity. But in normal hunting hours, I couldn't tell a difference.
It is a good scope. Once you have one, youll wonder why you'd spend the extra $100 for a VX1.

It is a good scope. Once you have one, youll wonder why you'd spend the extra $100 for a VX1. That may have been true before the Revolution took a price jump a couple years ago. Midway shows the 3-9 Revolution as the same price as the VX-1 and the 2-7 Revolution as $20 less than the VX-1. Revolution does not have a transferable warranty whereas the VX-1 does. I'm not knocking the Revolution as I had one and it worked well.

Then their website is either wrong or confusing. http://www.redfield.com/support/THE REDFIELD NO EXCUSES FULL LIFETIME WARRANTY Redfield non-electronics products are warranted for as long as the owner owns them. We warrant them to be free of defects in materials and workmanship and function at a high level under normal use conditions. If at any time a Redfield non-electronic product is found to have a defect in materials or workmanship, Redfield will, at our discretion, repair or replace it free of charge, when requested by the original owner.

Aha! You got me! I quit paying attention to this stuff when I got out of the gun biz, but I just bought a Redfield, there was no warranty card to send in, and Im guessing some unscrupulous non-orignal owner make take advantage of that one day..
It wont happen more than a couple times though, I'll bet.
