...implements a regulated elk season?
Oklahoma just established a state-wide season, and elk are in the panhandle and far West Texas.

I think we had a season a few years back,then the state classified them as exotics.

They don't have an aoudad season after many, many decades.
I think Texas doesn't care to regulate any more animals than it has to.
There are free range wild elk that are periodically in parts of far west Texas. They came from the Sacramento's up north in NM. They just follow the mountain ranges down south...

There was a long time ago an Elk season for counties in west Texas but now with all the high fenced ranches having them it would be hard to implement a season on them for one. Also parks and wildlife shoots any elk they see on the WMA's because they say that they interfere with the Big Horn. They do the same with the Aoudad. Here is a free range bull we took just outside of Van Horn last year. The elk season in Texas is 365 days a year with landowner permission.
