Guys, what other gauge stocks will fit my RH 870 28 gauge express? Are the 20, 28, and .410 receivers all the same?
I read somewhere the 12 and 16 receivers were larger...

Thoughts?
I thought about putting a nice wingmaster stock on this shotgun, it is very nice save for the crappy express furniture.

Leave the crappy wood on it, go thru an old Playboy mag and cut out a picture of a hot looking redhead to decoupage on the stock. 1. It will remind you to keep your face on the stock. 2.Your buddies will be looking at the artwork and not notice the crappy wood. 3. Spend the [bleep] money on a set of Briley tubes and install. The 20, 28, and 410 Expresses were all build on the same frame. The FOREARM will be different because of the barrel diameter, but the buttstock will be same between these three.

Not what you asked, but trade or sell the crappy express and buy a new or even better spend some time looking for a nice used Wingmaster. They are out there and then you have the whole package.

No thanks. I paid $200 for this 28 and it is like new. It's light as a feather and feels great in the hands.

It might be "crappy" compared to some other$ out there, but I bought this rh gun for my daughter (I am a LH) and simply wanted to dress up the wood.
I'll likely hit the original stock with some tru-oil and she'll use the sh*t out of it.

Ok broomd, as long as it's for the daughter you should skip the nearly naked redhead idea. Long time a go I had an 20 ga 870 Special Field with a 21" barrel and I shot in frt of everything with it because it handled too fast. My nephew shot it well,so I sold it to my older brother for him. I handled every 870 version made at the time to decide on it's replacement. I settled on a 870 Express wood stock with a 26" Rem choke barrel ,20 ga. It is light and handled very well, the right length and weight. The factory recoil pad needs to go RFN. Utilitarian,I shot it a lot skeet shooting it smoothed right up and I was working young dogs back then and it took a licking and a beating. I shot a lot of grouse and pheasants with it as well as some waterfowl too. It won't take but 1 good season for her to put some wear on that varnish stain finish. Get a good pad cut the stock to her length save the piece you cut off for when she gets her full growth and needs it longer. Strip it,sand it, good oil stain, and a tru-oil or varnish over it. It will serve her needs. Still have mine, never had a problem with it. Only problem with the 28, 2 actually, is the ammo expense and they have fixed choke which isn't as versatile.MM
