Got a Wyoming Elk area 8 tag. I have never hunted there, but have been looking at some maps and about to start my pre hunt scouting and planning and put some boots on the ground, but just tapping into my forum resources before hand. I am wondering what area 8 is like and public land situations and if there are any private places to maybe go knock on doors and get permission. Also I am going to have a General Elk tag in pocket also and plan to hunt area 10 yet another new area for me to be hunting. Again seeing what everyone knows of the area and maybe a land permission from someone. Thanks!

Area 8 has some good elk hunting. A guy I work with get his elk there just about every year. I don't know anything of the area but you can call the LAramie office of the Game & Fish @ 307-745-4046. They can help you.
I have 2 cow/calf taga for area 10 and might be able to help a bit. Will do some research. You can PM me here.

SD Flyfisher,
Not familiar with the area but just checking, what type of area 8 tag do you have? There are limited situations where you could have more than 1 elk tag in WY.

Todd we can actually have up to 3 this year. I believe 2 have to be cow/calf and only one can be a general/special draw.

WyoJoe,
I am aware of that, what I was getting at with SD Flyfisher is they did not indicate what type of area 8 tag they hold. I am pretty sure if it is a type 1 tag they cannot purchase a general tag as well. I just don't want someone to inadvertently end up in trouble for having the wrong combo of tags.
