Just bought a Savage 220F. The owners manual says the gun can use any Weaver base designed for a Savage long action but I read a couple of old articles that said you need a Picatinny rail set up from EGW or Warne so I'm asking for some direction.
Also what height rings are needed? I like rings as low as possible but I realize ejection clearance will be an issue with a shotgun.

I was at the gun range last fall sighting in and few guys had 12 and 20 gauge versions of these and the package gun mounts & scopes suck. The factory weaver bases loosened up, but they did not use Loctite on them. Leupold has a nice ring height chart in their catalog that works on their scopes except the 30 mm xvr ones.
Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

We used a EGW rail on ours,we could not get reliable ejection with a single full length base, the egw has a cutout that lets it eject properly.Good shooting shotguns, try the remington accutips if you can.

I have Talley's on mine and love it. I called them up; told them I was shooting a Savage 220 LH and the scope I wanted to use. Less than 20 minutes later I got an email that the item was shipped complete with tracking number.

Savage recommends EGW and they have worked on all 3 of my 220F's.

As far as scopes go, do any of the scopes with the circles for different ranges correlate to the trajectory of the 20 gauge Remington Accutips in 3 inch?
