One of the best lines in any movie, ever!

"Mr. Towns, you behave as if stupidity were a virtue. Why is that?"

This might give away the film:

"I told you there would be no difficulty in building this aeroplane. I also told you it would require an outstanding pilot to fly it. The only thing outstanding about you, Mr. Towns, is your stupidity."

One of the most compelling scenes in the movie is when Towns accepts that the man with the slide rule and computer literacy was right all along.

I sure wish they could make films like it again. Its remake was nowhere as good as the original

Jimmy Stewart enlisted in the US Army Air Corps as a private. He left as a colonel. Not many do that. He flew B-29 bombing missions, which was probably why he was perfect for this role:

Finally, we agree. A very, very good movie. Hardy Kruger was excellent also.

Kruger was excellent in that film. He stole it from Jimmy Stewart, not an easy feat. He should have won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance.
