I need photos of a cut checkered DL with a 24" barrel for my book. If one shows up at Savage Fest I'll include it. David

If someone can help me out with the model I can send pics. I honestly don't know what model it is. I believe it is cut checkering.

A DL has a monte carlo stock and is stamped Model 99M on the left side of the receiver. In .300 it would have a lightweight barrel with a raised boss that mounts the rear sight. The first three years 1960 to 1962 the .300 had a 24" barrel. 1963 and later 22" Lever Boss Code would be L, M, or N. If it was made 1960-64 it would have cut checkering. David

OK guys this is what I have. It does have the raised boss for the rear sight. It is just stamped Savage Model 99,no M but it has an X stamped below the S in Savage. It does have a 24" barrel. The lever boss code is 12N

So I'm betting it's a cut checkered 300 DL.
Not a common gun.

So it is worth 2500.00 then ?? LOL I think I am going to keep it. I was going to fund a gun build with the money but after looking at it again tonight it is too nice to get rid of.

In todays market, your original asking price was not unreasonable. Pending condition of course. If you want to see 2500.00, I recommend you leave to your grandchildren to sell 50 years from now. After all it is only 52 years old.

The way this economy is in 50 years you probably couldn't give it away ! LOL it is in really good condition, I would venture to guess it hasn't been used much at all. If you pm me your emailor cell number I will send you some pics of it.
