Hey gang,
I was just wondering if any of you guys use those vanes/feathers they sell at Basspro and Cabelas, that are attached to a plactic material that you put in water and it affixes the vanes to the shaft? Are they any good? It looks like a good concept, but I am still skeptical how good that shrink wrap stuff will hold the vanes to the shaft. Any info would be great.

I like them alot. I bought some last year when I screwed up some of my vanes. They worked great. I couldn't tell a difference. They are simple to put on. I am thinking about trying out the new ones that have the quick spin on them. I bought mine on ebay and got a good deal on them. Good luck!!

You can get them cheaper on ebay. In the SEARCH block type in EXTREME SHRINK FLETCH. You will save yourself a few bucks.

Can you get these to adhere to the shaft with a right helical? Pictures I have seen have all looked straight.

If you are using a Whisker Biscuit arrow rest, you might not want to use these. I read somewhere that the vanes will start to tear after about 35 shots thru the Whisker Biscuit. I use a drop-away rest so I haven't had any problems.

Thanks Guys,
Great info. Unfortunately I shoot a whisker biscuit. What I may do is try them out on my practice arrows and see how they do. After that put them on my hunting arrows and shoot a few times just to get them on cue. I will let you know how they hold up. Thanks again for all the help.

I use 'em. I just started using them this year. Fairly durable, good flight if you have some hot water around youcan do some in the field repairs. I'll probably get a jig and build my own arrows though, I want to mess with offset and helical.
