You better be right about this one, thats what Im sighted and tweaked for. Don't want no more misleading statements from you like " don't put ice in your whiskey."

If I use it this year, it'd be the Hornady, 100-gr BTSP though I have read here that these c & c "cotton swabs" won't kill game any more. whistle

That's right, don't put ice in my whiskey.

Seriously though, I put a 95 BT through a 300 pound boar hit behind the shoulder. He died. grin

My deer camp mate and I set up a little Browning BBR for a nephew of his. We zeroed it to the Winchester factory load using the black version of that bullet. The kid went on a one shot, instant drop spree, shooting deer straight through the shoulders. No problemo.

I carried a Sako Forrestor in 243 f0r about 5 years. Withat I killed about 20 blacktails,25 caribou,2 Dall rams,1 black bears and a 55" moose. All with the Horn 100gr SP. Great round,, I was talked out of it by a damsel in distress! I also had a 220 Swift Forrestor at the time a buddy traded me for a Ski-Doo Tundra (he really wanted it!).

100g Hornady Flat base sp or BT(your gun will shoot bug holes with one or the other:
Rem brass
win primer
42.3g of H4350
Bullet touching the lands

95g Nosler partition
43.0g of H4350 or IMR
Win primer
Play with seating depth
massive damage on 200 lb white tails
In all the 243's that I have had, they all shot the 95g better than the 100g partition

85g triple shock
39.0g of IMR 4064
Fed 210 primer
bullet seated .050 off the lands

85g Tripple shock
45.5g of R#19
Win primer
Bullet seated 0.050 off the lands
I shot a doe from butt to shoulders with this load, bullet was under the hide, perfect mushroom with all petals intact

These are all proven killer loads with many head under their belt. Family of course has killed more with the 95g partition and the 100g Hornady FB and BTSP than the triple shocks due to the length of time they have been on the market.

The 243 and 6 Remington are very under-rated calibers.

Work up to these loads in your rifles, ours are Remington 700's.

The 95gr fusion (or hot core), will get it done, also. Hold together, expand, and penetrate plenty for all angles I've tried. Accurate bullet, too.

I've settled on the 80 gr TTSX in front of 46.8 grains of Ramshot Hunter yielding 3415 fps which has proven to be quite deadly on whitetails and antelope.

Talk to me about those. I lucked into a few hundred of these and they shoot .4 in this old Savage.

Your gonna shoot your Axis with those? You probably could go a little lighter, I hear the Axis aren't as tough as the 110 series... wink

Seriously though, there are a plethora of good bullets out there. I look for Hornady (mainly the Interlocks), Speer (Hot-Cors are nice), and Remington Core-loct are all good. Maybe your gun will like one more than another, but I believe mostly that will be a function of load development with your powders and weights.

Just look for 85-105 gr. bullets.

I use the 80 ttsx. The 6 deer I have shot with it have been hit as hard as any 7mm or 30 cal. Only one went over 10 yards
