Could be anything. Basenjis have ears like that and the color is right...but they may not be common in your neck of the woods.

We had a Heller/Border Collie mix. Damn smart dog that lived 18 years...but was pretty aggressive with other female dogs - she had to be the alpha bitch.

All three of our current dogs were strays. One showed up at our door - a chihahua (sp?) mix that is about 12 now, a lab mix and a terrier/? mix that were running around our hunting and fishing club property. They are all great dogs and very people-oriented. The terrier mix is hell on possums and rats and can actually catch cottontails. The only purebred dogs I've owned were German shorthairs that were great bird dogs and wounded game trackers.

I'll echo the main sentiment posted so far, no real clue as to breed, but one lucky dog. Good for you both!

harumph, dogs, dogs and more dogs

we have one pretty good dog, some Aussie, Chow mix

one ugly lil sumbitch that mom sez is a cockapug, he seems more crockachit to me. Thank god he has teeth so I can determine which end is attacking me!

but I had to draw the line in the sand the other day, she started making noise about wanting a poodle! Me: "A poodle or cripessakes! We ain't having no poodle in this house!"

I put my foot down over that nonsense.

oh by the way the poodle was named Lily by our granddaughter.

I have read that mixed dogs usually have less health issues. I guess it breeds the bad traits out like hip problems in labs. Long as she's a good girl and you love her it doesn't matter if she is name brand. Good on you for helping the ol gal out.

S. Billy is right. My niece Veterinarian calls it hybrid vitality. Usually smart too. Pick up training and tricks quick - and our grandchildren call ours Tippy the Wonder Dog. A muttski we took in a while back and she's been a blessing for us.

If you really get curious on the mix, you can send off a saliva sample, and for a fee (used to be $60 or so) there are doggy DNA services that can tell you what main ingredients she's made of.

Bless you and yours Jeff for taking in a new family member.
