I want the bullet to hit with the sights. Will probably try to buy an original rear sight and file it down.

If you remind me, in a month I will be home and I have a half dozen of those rear sights. I would gladly throw one in the mail to you. May take a bit to find them in my parts boxes. Let me know.

Dan, that is a sweet gift. I am sure you will appreciate it in the spirit it was given.

In 1980 I gave my Mom a Glenfield 60 for Mother's Day. It is still one of her most cherished possessions.

I have only gifted firearms to family. My son liked my SS boat paddle Ruger in 260 enough that Momma and I gave him an identical model for Christmas, along with a hard case, padlocks, (he has young kids, and no safe), and a couple hundred rounds of reloads using 120 gr Rem CL and 120 Nosler BT.

A couple years later he came by and had Momma open the gun safe so he could take home his Grandpa's sporterized 03 Springfield W/ the ladder sight. It is a real tack driver with a 165 BT over 60 gr H4831.

And I sent a Mossburg 500 in 12 ga with a couple boxes of Rem 3" steel shot home with the SIL before last duck season. I am starting to consider that as a gift as well. GRIN

Yes, I was shooting with a good buddy and his son at their place (rural area), and the young man was shooting his dads Browning Hi Power. He kept telling his dad he wanted one like it and his dad kept telling him he would have to wait as it was a money thing. I happen to have a BHP that I picked up a while back at a really good price. It had fixed sights and in nice overall shape. I hadn't shot it in years as I had gotten back into revolvers. I didn't say anything then and when I got home pulled it out and checked it over. In the next few weeks we were shooting again and I talked my friend into taking the gun and for him to give it to his son as a present. It did take a lot of talking, but he finally gave in. I told him to give it to him whenever he saw fit. He gave him the gun on his 21st birthday. I wasn't present but got hear how it was one of the best gifts he had ever received. That was more then good enough for me.

Gave my friend a Springfield P9LS awhile back. Last month I gave him my old Clark 1911 wad gun.

He's been a good friend.

Yes, twice.

bestest pard and hunting companero's son was 10 when he killed his first moose with my win. .30-30 truck gun in Sept. Old one, pre safety, at Xmas I wrapped it up and gifted it to the boy.

his dad being the jealous type, (grin) and a long time admirer of my .45/70, I gave him a SS one for his 50th b'day.

course I've given my sons rifles too, but that don't count as they're family.

course the two jabronis I gifted are damn near family too.

I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

Yes, I gave a friend a .270 Vanguard - he insists he is just holding it for me in case I ever want it back. Friends and brothers have traded back and forth a few time, too.

Gave my brother a performance center Smith when he graduated law school. Gave the neighbor's boy a .270. Loaned a friend's little daughter a '92 SRC in .44-40 and when she killed her first deer with it told her to keep it. Gave nephews and grandsons some. Guy at church said he always wanted a Mini 14, gave him one I had but asked him to put $150 in the collection plate over several weeks time. Gave my first ex-wife a couple. It's only stuff. We've all got too much stuff as it is.
